Dr. Turner is a Binghamton University graduate and received his medical degree from S.U.N.Y. Update Medical University in New York. He served as post-sophomore fellow in pathology at S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical University, and then completed two residencies in anatomic pathology, first at Boston Medical Center, then at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he then served as chief resident.

Subsequently, he held two fellowship positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, first in surgical pathology, and then in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Dr. Turner was an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at University of Massachusetts Medical Center from 2008-2009. Additionally, he was awarded the Excellence in Teaching award for his role as a tutorial instructor, gastrointestinal pathophysiology, Harvard Medical School in 2008. Prior to joining StrataDx, Dr. Turner was an attending pathologist at Brampton Civic Hospital in Brampton, ON, Canada. He has also contributed to multiple articles and journals.
