Gynecologic Pathology
Our gynecologic pathology department employs the talents of board-certified anatomic and cytopathologists with extensive outpatient and in-hospital experience in diagnosing benign and malignant cases. This combined experience is especially important in gynecologic pathology because the broad swath of any given sampling technique may yield only a few cells, which only a highly trained eye will identify. We offer 24-hour turnaround time for all uncomplicated cervical/endocervical biopsies and endometrial curettings. FDA HPV testing, HPV 16 and 18, and Genprobe Chlamydia/GC on thin prep specimens are available with two-day turnaround time. We routinely perform Pap smear biopsy correlation. HPV testing by in situ hybridization is available for biopsy specimens. The option for all reports to include a representative photomicrograph, or biopsy pap smear correlations, depicting the main diagnostic finding is available, depending on client preferences.
Services and techniques include:
- • 24 hour turnaround time for most biopsies
- • Biopsy cytology correlation
- • Extensive panel of ancillary studies
- • HPV in situ hybridization for cervical and vulvar biopsies
- • Prognostic markers for endometrial carcinomas
