The Patient Center: Pathologists – “The Doctor’s Doctors”Although our physicians and staff can be an integral part of your medical team, we don’t work directly with patients. Instead, we provide your doctors important testing and consultative services to assist them in making a diagnosis and determining the best possible treatment plan. Your doctor knows you and your clinical history best, and s/he is directly responsible for prescribing treatment. Sometimes, however, doctors do confer with us as they evaluate different treatment options for you – that’s why pathologists are sometimes called “the doctor’s doctor.” Although our laboratories and physicians are located in Massachusetts, you and your doctors don’t have to be to benefit from our services. We currently receive biopsy specimens for diagnostic services from physician clients in more than 20 states. If you are interested in our consultative services, please ask your doctor to contact our client service department at +1.800 325.PATH (7284), or complete the patient request form available on this page. You can also call that number if you have questions regarding billing, payment options, and insurance coverage for services that we are performing on your behalf. Or, click on the appropriate links on the left to read our HIPAA Privacy Statement, and access release forms on-line. Undergoing diagnostic tests can be a stressful time for patients. You likely have many questions about the process, the purpose of testing, and what the results mean. We encourage you to write your questions down, and bring them with you when you visit your healthcare provider. We also have assembled a list of frequently asked questions about pathology testing for you to reference. |
